Slava, (Veaceslav Lapin) –
composer, author and singer
was born in 1969 in Glodeni, Republic of Moldova. The first musical instrument – a diatonic accordion - appeared in his life at the age of 5 and Slava began to earn his first money from small presentations given during traditional celebrations (weddings, local holydays, baby showers). Supported by his first music teacher – Paul Apostolache, at the age of 8, he starts participating in composition contests. Slava graduates from musical school at the age of 12. Tired of classical music (which was compulsory in the school curricula) and solfeggio lessons, he pursues his studies at the faculty of physical culture and sports. But he still remains passionate about folkloric and pop music. At 14 he launches his first songs, together with the vocal-instrumental group of the Sports College from Chisinau. During his studies, Slava is always present in the various musical events, playing songs from Moldovan, Russian and Ukranian musical spectrum, as well as modern music. Afterwards, he joined the army, taking part and winning numerous musical competitions organized for the military. He composes music and writes lyrics in Russian and Romanian, plays the accordion and guitar. In 1994 Slava creates his own group "Spectrum". In 1997 he writes the music for the National Theatre"Vasile Alecsandri" Balti, Moldova. In 2000 he begins his solo career. Since 2002 his songs have been broadcasted on national radio stations in Moldova. Between 2005-2008, his music is rated on the top of Moldovan songs (Top-7 show, National Radio of Moldova). After the launch of his album he immigrates to Canada, Montreal, continuing to compose and write lyrics. He launches his first publications and different presentations; he also participates in festivals and various events. In 2010 Slava gets the Grand Prix "Emigrant of 2010" for promoting French language and for his successes. He is ccurrently working on the new albums.
